Nice, speckled redware "belly pitcher" from the late 1800's in very good condition! Lead glazed and colored with oxides, There are a few places where there is some mustard yellow mottling. The glaze stop short of the bottom rim and the bottom is not glazed at all.There is a folksy "chain-like" decoration that encompasses the upper third of this pitcher. It measures a total of 9 1/2 inches tall, has bottom diameter of 4 1/4 inches and an opening diameter of 5 inches if you include the spout. Other than the typical, old, worn chips around the rims, this pitcher is in great shape. No cracks or structural problems at all.
