Folksy-looking, hand-crafted hetchels (sometimes called hackles) that were used for preparing flax for spinning. They are carved planks with long spikes that helped separate coarse and unusable parts from the fine, fibrous parts. These primitives tools have loads of charm, no two are alike. They have rich, original surfaces and are as-found and untouched. Some have long, carved wooden spikes while others have forged iron spikes, please specify which you prefer with your order. Hetchels with wooden spikes may have a few damaged or missing spikes, the result of wear and tear back in their day.
